Winter Olympics, auction in fortnight

snowshoe-olympicsThe Winter Olympics are just 15 days away. And although alpine site Whistler/Blackcomb (and Snowshoe) would have suffered the ignominy of learning that they could be sold off in a foreclosure auction amid the games due to the failure of parent company Fortress Investment Group to make a $524 million loan payment last month, the just-announced sale of Panorama Mountain Village will raise some needed cash.

The story of the decade —greed ! Just grow and grow and pay later, but this time later came sooner.

  2. Despite the snow, Snowshoe hasn’t been keeping up with grooming. Most of the Intermediate and all of the beginners who come to Snowshoe (which is most of the people who go) WANT GROOMED TRAILS. The trails are all choppy, so despite the snow it hasn’t been a good season for groomed skiers. Also, Snowshoe needs to pick up the pace with the shuttles between Silver Creek and the Village. Selling the 3 large buses wasn’t great for comfort, and the school buses used in replacement are getting crowded (when you can find one). The food is good, especially the Sushi and Italian places.
